San Mateo woman killed when hit in crosswalk by SUV

For many, the Bay area is a nice place to walk, either for recreation or as a mode of transportation to work, school, and family functions. But the Bay area is also known for its traffic. Pedestrians and car traffic can peacefully co-exist if all are attentive and obey traffic laws. Sometimes, though, negligence takes hold and a fatal accident occurs.

One of these accidents has left a San Mateo woman dead. According to reports, the woman was trying to cross a busy road in San Mateo when she was struck by an SUV. The woman was in the crosswalk when the accident occurred, but police have yet to file any charges against the driver. However, police continue to investigate the accident and, once completed, may forward the file to the District Attorney’s Office. At this moment police think the vehicle’s speed may have played a role in the woman’s death.
