Every day, millions of Americans go to work, many of them without giving a second of thought about their safety. Federal and state regulations work to keep workers safe and prevent accidents from occurring. Yet, at any time, a mistake can be made and a fatal workplace accident may result. When the negligence of another leads to the fatal accident, a wrongful death has occurred and the surviving family may be entitled to compensation.
A recent workplace death in Cloverdale may be subject to such a lawsuit. There, a sawmill worker was killed when he tried to clear a jammed tree debarking machine. The victim was the second worker to die at the mill in the last four and a half years. The accident remains under investigation.
